Title: Managing Director

Overall Responsibility

The Managing Director is responsible for all operational, financial, and staff management of the Nile Project.

Specific Responsibilities

General Management

    1. Work with the Nile Project CEO & Board to achieve organization goals
    2. Supervise and coach Nile Project staff members across all programs
    3. Develop and refine systems to maximize team efficiency

Human Resources

    1. Manage staff and volunteer recruitment processes
    2. Train and coach new team members
    3. Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews

Fundraising

    1. Work with CEO to identify and approach prospective donors and corporate sponsors
    2. Ensure fulfillment of all commitments made to funders and sponsors based on contractual agreements
    3. Promote the Nile Project in national and international environmental and cultural institutions as well as multinational and bilateral organizations focused on Africa

Finance & Legal

    1. Work with CEO and Board to manage the organizational annual budget in order to meet financial goals
    2. Supervise finance team to ensure proper accounting and reporting
    3. Fulfill all legal and financial responsibilities

Government & Partner Relations

    1. Act as the main organizational contact for all government and public affairs
    2. Represent the Nile Project at conferences and other events
    3. Work with program managers to identify and develop synergistic partnerships

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of relevant management experience
  • Background in international development, environment, education, or arts administration
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in relevant field
  • Experience in fundraising and donor relation development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English
  • Exceptional track record and project management skills with systems and process orientation
  • Practical knowledge of Egypt’s financial and legal systems pertaining to both companies and NGOs
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams, setting and achieving ambitious goals, and managing organizational resources to support growth
  • Ability to give and receive feedback constructively across all levels of the organization
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, and adaptable
  • Self-motivated and can work with minimal oversight
  • Calm, patient, and professional demeanor
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring earlier career staff
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience coordinating office environments

Reporting

The Managing Director will report to the Nile Project CEO. Reporting system and tools will be agreed upon in the beginning of his/her mandate.
