Afework Nigussie is a masenko player and vocalist born and raised in Gondar, Ethiopia. As a young boy, he explored and learned about the multiple Ethiopian music styles. He grew up playing Ethiopian groove music with traditional influences. In his many years of being a professional musician, Afework has played shows across Europe and Africa, sharing the stage with highly recognized musicians including Mulatu Asitatike, Getachew Mekuria, The Ex and Jump to Addis. He has also played at various festivals, such as Roots Festival and Mundial Festival.
